Like many other fellow space enthusiast (ie: nerds, geeks, awesome people that know what real news is) I watched the Curiosity landing live on NASA.gov.

It is almost unreal when you see how far we have come. I do realize we already have other rovers on the surface of Mars but this one is not only the most advanced but so large that the landing procedure was the most complicated ever preformed.

It went beautifully. So after it landed safely it took it’s first images from the planet as a bit of a self checking to show that it was safe and upright.

Take a look at what was broadcast live …

AAHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAA!!!

NOW THEY KNOW WE ARE HERE!! THEY ARE COMING TO DESTROY ALL OF US!!!

All kidding aside, congratulations to all of the engineers and scientist working on the mission. We as a human race have taken another great step is space exploration and have blazed a trail towards putting the first men on another planet in our solar system. The new possibilities are endless.

Oh and here is the REAL first images sent back.
