Star Wars Episode VII 2015

I realize we are a day late on this one. I will claim now that the reason for being late was to make sure we had all the facts…..

If you were dead yesterday then you missed the news that Disney purchased Lucasfilms. They got it at a discount too. $4 billion. If I knew they were selling that low I would have made a bid!

One of the first announcements after that was the plans to release more Star Wars films. Not just one…a bunch of them….

Star Wars Episode VII will be released in 2015, and followed by Episodes VIII and IX, with long-term plans including a “new Star Wars film every two to three years.” Those will be part of Disney’s overall eight to ten film per year plan. The Indiana Jones franchise is mentioned in the call, but one “encumbrance” of Indy is the fact that Paramount has released those films, so Disney can’t quickly begin making new films in that franchise.    - slashfilm.com

Here’s what  George Lucas had to say:

For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next. It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime. I’m confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization, Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come. Disney’s reach and experience give Lucasfilm the opportunity to blaze new trails in film, television, interactive media, theme parks, live entertainment, and consumer products.

Cinemablend.com among many other sites have some theories on what the story line of a NEW Star Wars movie would be. (see that here)

as long as there is no JarJar Binks, I’m fine with this.
in fact, I will be crossing my light sabers that they don’t eff up the series as much as 1-3 did!!
